CLASS OF 1961 MEMORIAL

Ronald Allen: (Ron)

After high school, Ron joined the US Marines.  Married Bonnie Hayes.  Had two sons, Mark & Jeff.  Worked at Kennedy Valve as a sales representative. Ron died January 1992 from a brain aneurysm.

 

 

Judith Clark Sullivan: (Judy)

She married Bill (Will) Sullivan in January 1962.  Will was a HHS alumnus of the class of 1962.  They had five sons, Michael, Patrick, Andrew, William IV, Daniel and one daughter, Anne.  They lived in Beaver Dams, New York. They parted in June, 1976.  Will moved to Syracuse and Judy stayed in Beaver Dams.  Judy was a stay-at-home mother, who also loved to help with children at her church and at summer camp.  She had 12 grandchildren.  Judy passed away in August of 1991 of heart failure.

 

 

Alexander Cossaboon: (Alex)

Married to Linda Titsworth for 33 years.  Had a daughter Laura and a son Kevin. Was in the US Army Reserve.  Attended Syracuse University.  Built his home on a 35-acre hillside lot in Horseheads.  He worked for NYS Electric & Gas for 33 years.  Alex loved to hunt, fish, travel and really enjoyed roller coasters. He retired on September 1st and died September 10th, 1999 of cardiac arrest.

 

 

Dennis Dekoschak: (Doctor Dennis)

He was accidentally shot in the spine while in the 8th grade.  Dennis was awarded a full scholarship for music from Ithaca College however; he chose to attend Morrisville College where he received an Associate Degree in Engineering.  He worked in car racing for the Bodine Brothers.  Also he was involved with stock cars.  Moved to Arizona, where he lived on a river and worked in mining.  He was married and had a daughter. His daughter was killed at the age of 8 from a horseback riding accident.  Dennis died on Oct. 2nd, 1993.

 

Douglas Dowd: (Doug)

Married Susan Bentley and had a daughter, Noel.  In 1968, they bought and operated the Dairy Queen Brazier on the Ithaca Rd. in Horseheads.  Doug relocated to Boca Raton, Florida where he managed several restaurants. He then moved to Titusville, Florida and purchased the “B Aero B” Ranch with his second wife Brenda.  He was a generous bighearted man with a wonderful laugh.  He died at the age of 49 from a heart attack.

 

Jean Frycek Rose:

She married Alan in 1967.  Had a daughter Wendy, a son Alan and two grandchildren. Lived in Wharton, NJ, moved to Joliet, Illinois, then ended up in Anderson, Indiana in 1980. Jean was a loan officer for a credit union. She loved her flower garden and enjoyed playing classical music on the piano.  Jean passed away from breast cancer in November 1999.

 

 

Gary Klesa:

He joined the US Marines.  Gary was a member of the Honor Guard for President JFK. Married Beth Frycek (class of ’63) had two daughters, Vicki & Amy and four grandchildren.  Lived in Texas and was a truck driver.  He enjoyed Bass fishing and motorcycling.  Gary died May 11th, 1999 of a heart attack.

 

 

Bonnie Lindstrom Rogers:

Married Glenn and had a daughter Mary, a son Glenn Jr. and two granddaughters, Ashley and Hailey.  She was an employee of Unique Power Inc, Vestal, NY.  They had a log house in PA.  Bonnie enjoyed antiques, and loved gardening.  She was always there for her family and friends.  Bonnie died April 19th, 1989 at the age of 46 following a long illness.

 

 

Jack Marvin

Jack was married to Joan Laidlaw and had a daughter Lisa.  He had three passions in life, Flying, Fast Cars and Racing.  He was certified to fly jet planes and was called on to fly the Corning Glass Jet. He acquired a new blue Corvette and made a (expense paid) trip to the Indy 500.  Jack always had his flattop red hair, and enjoyed making people laugh. His plane crashed near Hammondsport, NY.  Jack had severe injuries and died in November 1970.

 

 

John Miller: (Humphrey)

 

He joined the Air Force, Lived in Germany for seven years.  Moved to South Bend, Indiana.  Managed the Holiday Inn in Warsaw, Indiana. He enjoyed fishing. It was a real treat to be around him.  Never married.  John died February 22nd, 1990 from a heart attack.

 

 

David Mulliner: (Dave)

 

Attended Delhi University & Corning Community College.  US ArmyVietnamVeteran.  Retired NY State Trooper.  Town of Veteran Planning Board and a former Town of Veteran Justice.   Member of the Corvette Club and Rod & Gun Club.  Devoted time to genealogical research. Married Nancy and had two daughters, Joellen & Kelly.  Dave fiancée was Mary Stebbins.  He died April 10, 2001 from a massive heart attack

 

William O’Conner: (Bill)

 

Attended Monroe Community College to pursue an accounting career.  He was in a bad accident that broke his legs, arm and shoulder.  Joined the Mormon Church and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Work as a supervisor in one of the Church’s factories.  Married and adopted a boy. Died from Diabetes February 21st, 1997.

 

 

Diana Perkins Corey:

 

Married Gary Corey.  She had three sons, Michael, Daniel, & Timothy, a daughter Tammy, three grandsons, and one granddaughter. She was a CNA for more than 20 years.  Diana was a Sunday school teacher. Lived on Cape Cod. Moved to Stanton, VA.   Died April 12th, 2001 from a heart attack and kidney failure. 

 

Daniel Brent Rodabaugh: (Rhodie)

 

Married to Amy for 32 years.  Daughter Lisa, stepdaughter Lynn & granddaughter Christy.  Worked for Consolidated Freightways.  Built a ranch house and horse stables. Great love for the outdoors and nature. Enjoyed horseback riding, hunting, snowmobiling, and skiing. He liked to travel. If you knew him, he was your friend. Died from a massive heart attack March 31, 1999.

 

David Sampson: (Dave)

US Army Reserves, Worked for J.M.Fields in Rochester, N.Y. as an appliance salesman.  Married to Linda Matson for 10 years. They did not have any children.   Dave had a great sense of humor.  He had very bad Rheumatoid arthritis and related illnesses.

Died April 1975.

Since there were some classmates that were not located.  It is possible that someone from the Class of 61 could have passed away without our knowledge.  It is our desire to continue to communicate any updated information to our fellow classmates.
